Overall Rating
Concluding a month’s worth of testing, this shaver is without a doubt worth the money for the cost and turbo mode ultimately makes this even more true.
SensoFlex technology may seem simple, but has surprising effects on shaver performance.
We’ll explain more about that in this article along with a couple more things this shaver does well.
Introduction: a Rundown Of The S6
A performance and price balanced shaver is something I always look for, and I’m sure that’s the case for you too.
The Braun Series 6 just happens to fit into this category.
After testing this shaver over a period of 2 months, I’ve realized that a lot of things it does right are usually flaws in other shavers.
The attachment selection differs for all the models with no two being the same, and we will provide a table to make sure choosing a model for you is straightforward and easy.
Turbo Mode changed many people’s opinions about this installation when it came out, and I personally agree with this for reasons you’ll see later.
Sensoflex is also a win and the main reason this shaver is hailed more than previous generations, especially compared to the Series 5 as it’s very similar but misses this essential feature.
Maintenance is an essential part of improving your shaver’s longevity and that’s even more true for wet shaving with this being a waterproof razor.
We will be covering everything about that in the maintenance section.
There’s a bit to know before purchasing, so get reading:

As mentioned before, the attachments vary for different model numbers. Below you can find a table to understand the distinguishments between them along with similarities.

Included Accessories & Model Comparison For the S6
We ensured the inclusion of European equivalents by picking the closest model to USA versions.
Some have a slight discretion for the attachments and stations included when comparing the closest units, but we specified the distinguishments between them so you can find a perfect fit.
Here’s an overview of the lineup:
All models at minimum include a shaver travel case, trimmer attachment, shaver cleaning brush and wired charger whether it’s the old or new S6.
Different models include many combinations of body groomer attachments, beard stubblers, and occasionally combs for them along with charging and cleaning stations (Aka the SmartCare Center).
For an idea of what’s included in every model at minimum, here’s the 6120s box besides the shaver which includes only the most basic equipment:

Simplicity and cheapness are the main reasons to pick something like this, but then again there’s tons of units to pick from that should cover all your needs.
Beard Trimmer Attachment
There’s no integrated pop up trimmer included for the Braun Series 6 like for higher-end shavers, but there is a detachable beard trimmer that uses EasyClick technology.
People often prefer a pop up trimmer, but an attachment style trimmer is ideal for some because it makes the shaver less bulky and easier to hold.
It’s nice to have, but isn’t totally necessary if you shave often enough for the foil head to cut down the hair length it’s meant for.

If you have more than average hair growth or don’t shave consistently I recommend buying a separate beard trimmer tool or at least a model that includes combs.
An interesting fact is that none of the new generation Series 6’s (61**) include guards, or in other terms the ones where turbo is present.
You can’t buy combs separately without purchasing another trimmer.
Detail: After popping the trimmer on, movement in the head locks out and there’s only minimal amounts which you won’t notice during your shave.
Charging Station & SmartCare Center
The models that include stations are “cs” for charging and “cc” for cleaning stations. If you’re in Europe, these prefixes still apply.
The units included for both are compatible with both the Series 7 and Series 5, so if you’re planning on purchasing one or the other later or already own a different unit it’s useful to know.
If you want to purchase an independent unit, you can find them here:
Feature: There’s a 5 minute “QuickCharge” feature which is especially useful if you forgot to charge the night before a shave.
SensoFlex & Element Flex
SensoFlex is a simple yet significant upgrade from previous generations for Braun’s product lineup.
It involves up and down head swivel motion, supposedly contouring your face better alongside its 3 elements being able to dip up and down with its flexible blades.
The difference in performance with SensoFlex and Element Flex is quite noticeable if you’re coming from a shaver that doesn’t include any sort of movement.
A good example is the Series 5, that’s only missing head swivel and is generally accepted as slightly inferior.
More will be talked about how these features affect shaving performance later in the article.
Feature: Certain attachments like the trimmer cause head movement to lock, but that’s for the better as you don’t want any movement with any type of trimmer.
Shaver Travel Case Inclusion For Every Model
The Braun Series 6 comes with a fabric protective pouch that snugly fits the shaver utilizing a band to keep the head in place.
The whole pouch zips up to close.

TIP: You can fit the Precision Trimmer in the case with the shaver as seen in slide 2.
This is the most immediately noticeable difference one could make when comparing this model to the first shaver (Series 5).
I appreciate the attention to deal for bump placement where the head lays down to further prevent movement, and the zipper quality is unlike anything else not feeling flimsy or cheap.
Another build quality factor is the fabric they used that’s both quality and comfortable to hold.
Organization will be better in general, but it doesn’t carry the charger or any other attachments besides the trimmer while some brands already have room for all of this.
Overall, the travel pouch is a great peace of mind accessory whether you’re trying to protect your shaver from general damage that I love to see included with these products.
There’s no protective cap as seen in the previous shaver before the S6.

While inclusion of foil protection like in the form of Series 5’s protective cap alongside the travel case would’ve been nice, with proper handling you should be able to keep the cassette in great condition.
Travel Mode / Travel Lock
If you’re prone to travelling or have kids, this feature is tailored towards you.
Travel Lock works by fully locking the shaver in a way where it can’t accidentally be turned on.
I don’t see the shaver ever turning on by itself or causing massive damage unless it’s very specific circumstances, but it’s convenient enough where I use it despite the low chance of activation.
How to Activate Travel Lock
To take effect, you need to press down the main power button for 3 seconds, during so a lock icon blinks and vibrates 3 times on the LED screen before becoming solid.
To unlock the shaver again you hold down for another 3 seconds.

Design
The difference in shaver designs are nonexistent
for different models besides colors and turbo mode when comparing new to old units, but there’s a bit to understand before shaving that’ll explain a couple misunderstandings or questions.

Motor Power & Technology, Turbo Mode
The motor which runs at 24,000 cutting actions per minute offers a standard amount of power for a shaver of this cost and style.
This amount of cutting actions should be sufficient for most, but Turbo Mode raising it even more to 26,000 tops it off if you have the need for it.
This feature has essentially no downsides and models that have it are considered superior to standard gentle mode.
If you’re searching for a model with or without turbo, here’s the necessary information:
- 60** or 50** is non-turbo in the US
- 61** or 51** is turbo in the US but non-turbo in Europe
- 62** or 52** is turbo in Europe
To activate turbo mode, you simply need to press the button that swaps between gentle and turbo once and you’ll see an LED display indicator in the form of a blue arrow telling you it’s active.

Turbo mode was added in 2024 alongside the new installation of the S6 generation.
The motor also includes autosense technology that adjusts to your beard density, but it’s debatable whether or not it makes a difference as I can barely even hear a difference in sound.
At a glance the Series 6’s motor is solid, but you can learn about how it performs later in the article taking into account these features too.
Basic LED Display
One thing I notice that’s different from other Braun shavers is that there’s significantly less backsplash from the lights coming onto the black part of the LED screen, improving visibility.
The LED display is very basic, including 6 indicators counting the 3 charging dots as one.
Other indicators include:
- Travel lock
- Turbo mode
- Foil replacement
- Cleaning station
- Low charge

Simple displays like this work as is, but honestly I would’ve preferred a strip style or number indicator for charging as it would’ve better represented the percentage instead of broad levels.
It’s not a huge issue but Braun going the extra mile would’ve perfected this shaver even more.
Foil Head Details & EasyClick
This foil shaver comes with a cassette that consists of 2 outer foils and one middle trimmer.
The trimmer is essential for cutting the longer hairs for the foils to achieve a closer final shave and guide shorter facial hair into the cutting system.
The part number 64b foil cassette has a white lining around the center trimmer as seen in the photo.

My only complaint I have surrounding the S6 Cassette is the way it sits attached to the body.
With the frame being wide, sometimes I find the plastic portion of it rubs on my skin if I press down with too much force.
This may make gliding less optimal, but it’s only occasionally and removing most of the pressure fixes the problem with relative ease.
EasyClick isn’t as much an annoyance as some say it is, but some still prefer pop up trimmers for their convenience and fluidity when dealing with longer and shorter hairs back to back.
Some other shavers have a different release mechanism (notably the Series 8 and Series 9) that involves squeezing and sliding instead of clicking attachments in and out.
While these two changes could’ve added more functionality, in my opinion a pop up trimmer would’ve bulked up the shaver too much and EasyClick is something you’ll only deal with a bit.
This is how EasyClick works:
How to Remove The Foil Cassette
Removing the cassette is as easy as other shaver, at least in my opinion considering that some prefer a squeeze and release method.
Simply position your fingers on either side of the shaver where the grooves are located and pull up from there.

I find pulling from the front (having more leverage with the thumb) is the least annoying and easiest way to do remove the cassette.
Braun Series 6 Foil Head Availability
If you need a replacement foil head, the 54b and 64b cassette work interchangeably and are physically indifferent from one another leaving you to buy based on sales and availability.
You can find replacements here:
Again, the only way they’re distinguished as mentioned before is the white lining around the middle trimmer of the 64b.
They are both perform the same, or at least I don’t feel any difference when swapping use between them on either shaver.
How often should I replace Braun Series 6 blades?
You should replace Braun Series 6 blades after 18 months, but this is only for average use and not considering maintenance or shaving consistency factors that either decrease or increase lifespan. If the foils begin to feel dull or cause irritation, it’s worth the buy for new ones.
Charging & Battery Performance
The Lithium Ion battery holds power for 60 minutes on normal mode and 50 minutes on turbo, which is more than enough lasting around 3 weeks with consistent use.
It takes around the same time to charge as it lasts when running nonstop on gentle (60 minutes).
This is what the charging style (barrel connector) looks like:

Charging works perfectly fine with the wired cable included with every model has, unless you want a charging or cleaning station which both charge the shaver on a stand.
Details about which models include them and how to get independent models are in the “Features” section.
Tip: With this being a cordless shaver, always ensure your unit is has enough charge before you shave because you can’t operate it while plugged in.
Ergonomics & Build Design
The fact that the shaver doesn’t slip out of my hand with its rubber handle is great, but doesn’t impress me much as essentially every electric foil shaver has good grip.
My hand wraps around it well, and I can also appreciate the thumb grip running diagonally, opposite to your thumb direction if you’re right handed like me.

The LED display is easy to take quick glances at when shaving due to its optimal placement not being blocked by your thumb.
Materials & Colors
The body is very lightweight due to the chosen materials weighing in at 6oz or 175g, but still feels quality even though most of it is made of plastic and rubber besides some metal.
There are only a few options available for colors and even less if you’re just looking at America, but fortunately for most people the original design is pleasant with its light blue and black colors.
Here are the alternative colors I found for the Series 6:
- Black (Braun Series 6 6046cs) (USA) (Braun Series 6 60-N4500cs) (Europe)
- Grey (Braun Series 6 6075cc) (USA) (Braun Series 6 62-G1200si) (Europe)
- Silver (Braun Series 6 62-S7650cc) (Europe)
Shaving Experience
Here you’ll discover if SensoFlex, Autosense and other features compliment an already great performing shaver or if it falls too short for your preferences.
Rating
Closeness
It feels as if the shaver performs much better than previous models for closeness due to the fact it has head flexibility, while element flex still contributes a fair amount too.
My skin was left unsurprisingly smooth for the high expectations I had in most areas and I was even a bit impressed with the final product.
Another thing I noticed was how well it handles is fine hairs, because usually electric razors give me trouble with these leaving me no choice but to grab another tool like a safety razor.
This is especially apparent how it swiftly picks up peach fuzz around the cheek area, along with the ends of my moustache.

I found turbo mode improved closeness for time spent shaving a great amount but had no impact on the closeness in the end unless I rushed the session by accident or on purpose.
This is still a win though, and definitely improves the time to reach a close shave.
Missed Patches & Long Hairs
There weren’t a lot of missed patches left on my beard and the way it handled my moustache along with sideburns impressed me because these are often times a shaver’s problem spots.
Sharp angles are easy to reach and shave effectively, for example under your nose or back part of your jawline which usually isn’t the case for similar products once again.
Another area it succeeded in was the neck, only leaving behind the odd few hairs.

Occasionally there are a few areas left but a couple strokes later and they disappear, even more so when using the shaver’s more powerful turbo mode.
It takes less strokes to go over these missed patches with more power, and most of the time it results in there being way less or no missed areas when you’re finished compared to gentle mode.
The shaver performs much better than previous models here also due to the fact it has head flexibility, while element flex still contributes too.
Sometimes I misjudged how much head swivel room there was and it caused me to miss areas because the strokes felt unnatural, but I got used to it after a couple shaves.
The key to get around that issue of breaking skin contact is adjusting how you’re holding the shaver so the cassette always has full skin contact with your face or neck at all times.
The Braun Series 6 won’t always leave you with a perfect shave the first time around, but performs consistently and it barely leaves coarse hair patches when utilizing proper technique.
The Braun Series 6 adjusts to beard density utilizing its AutoSense feature. I can’t tell if it benefits closeness or any other factor of the shaving experience, but it’s nice to know its there.
Long Hairs
The Braun Series 6 handles longer, flat lying hairs surprisingly well up to a point and that’s especially valuable to people like me who generally wait between 3 to 4 days to shave.
Snagging is something that doesn’t happen too often and generally the only areas I feel it occurring is the sideburns and cheek there the skin is looser, making it harder to glide.

I can say for sure the shaver is meant for short-medium growth without a pre-trim and can handle a maximum of 3 days growth without turbo that’ll get you 4-5 at maximum in.
Pushing that can start to cause the snagging issues I mentioned, along with the standard cassette not being able to handle hairs longer than this amount of time..
Comfort
Only minor stinging along with slight pain from occasional snagging on longer hairs was apparent, but that was only in the moment and the stinging subsided shortly after shaving without any redness.
The area most affected was my sideburns with other areas like my cheek not being as intensive and honestly barely noticeable, whether it was actually negligible or shadowed by my sideburns.
A simple explanation for why that area in specific was most prominent is most likely due to the coarseness and length of hairs when I have to shave over them repeatedly.

There was only a slightly tangible upscale in razor burn when activating turbo mode, but it felt nearly identical to the gentle mode while still having many benefits elsewhere.
As mentioned before, the wide shaver head does rub against my cheek sometimes so it’s possible that this is a contributing factor in an ever so slightly uncomfortable experience.
Wet Shaving
You’re able to use this shaver in the shower, with water, creams, gels and foams but I recommend using light amounts of them as too thick of a layer greatly affects performance.
The Series 6 glides well across my skin and handles coarser areas a bit easier than dry shaving, plus I found that it picks up some of the longer hairs that are usually left behind.
Here are the other differences I noticed between dry and wet shaving for this shaver.
Closeness was also marginally improved and the quality in these coarser areas were the most noticeably smoother, plus Turbo Mode improved it even more.
Missed patches were less prominent only happening occasionally on the neck when being cautious of receiving cuts.
It handled finer hairs the same as dry shaving does, which is decently good.
This time around, it was a bit more difficult to reach just under the sideburns without accidentally shaving a part wanting to keep off, but within a few extra strokes it was deal with.
I also experienced slight irritation with my sensitive skin around my jawline after shaving consecutively for around 3 days on turbo, and most likely the cause of this is repeated shaving.
It was also has to get around back of my jawline, but this is a problem most shavers face as it’s hard to view the region in the mirror being hidden by your face.
Noise
The noise isn’t terrible and I didn’t find it to be annoying, it isn’t too high pitched or loud and I thought turbo mode would change that, but I was proven wrong:
Series 6
Turbo Mode S6
The shaver is barely audible when being used in a neighboring room and won’t be much of a nuisance unless paying close attention to the noise.
While rotary razors will always be the king of quietness, this foil shaver is on the more subtle side of things.
Cleaning & Maintenance
Cleaning stations are cool gadgets, but are the benefits worth the cost? Here we will provide a tutorial for manual cleaning and also explain what the SmartCare Centers do.

Manual Cleaning
Soaping isn’t necessary, but I strongly recommend it if you’re using gels, creams or any type of wet shaving products and you can still just do it for the purpose of a thorough rinse.
Lubricating is also a necessary step to extend your shaver’s lifespan and improve its long term performance.
Is the Braun S6 waterproof?
Thankfully, the Braun Series 6 is fully waterproof and can be cleaned with ideally warm water and liquid soap (if needed). The shaver can only be used cordless and same goes for dry usage.
The steps themselves are easy:
1. Remove and tap hairs loose
Pop off the cassette and put it aside after tapping it lightly on your counter or blowing the hairs to get a majority of the debris out.
The cleaning brush can also be used but never directly on the foils, and the previous method works better for this job in my opinion.
2. Rinse the Shaver’s cassette and body
Reassemble the shaver body and cassette then with the shaver off rinse thoroughly for 10-15 seconds in an upright position.
Ensure there’s no hairs left in the cassette as it’s a bit harder to get them out with just water.

You can clear it out even more by removing the headpiece and washing for another few seconds. I always do this because as a rule of thumb there’s always hairs left you can’t see.
3. Apply soap and distribute (optional)
Soaping is only necessary if you’re a routine wet shaver because dry shaving won’t leave any residue like shaving cream does.
Add a pump of soap onto the now attached cassette and let the shaver run for 10-15 seconds while spreading with your thumb to reach the whole head area.

Afterwards, rinse until there’s no soap left over first with the shaver still put together than detached on both parts.
Rinsing for around 10-15 seconds again usually does the trick for both of these steps.
4. Wipe down the shaver and let dry
At the end of the process, grab a towel and gently pat the interior and exterior of the shaver dry until it looks like there’s minimal moisture.
After this, lay the shaver down with both parts detached so there’s maximum airflow for the shaver to dry for 10-15 minutes.
This is so moisture doesn’t interfere with the last step to maintenance which is lubrication.
How Often Should I Clean My Braun Series 6?
Like most electric foil shavers you should clean the Braun Series 6 after every use with or without soap depending on if you wet shave or not, where it’s needed to better clear out buildup of creams, gels or foams / dirt. Cleaning is important to prevent clogging, blade damage and motor overheating.
Lubricating the Braun Series 6
The lubrication process is simple and quick with the benefits of reducing friction, preventing overheating and extending lifespan plus improving performance.
Ensure your shaver is clean and dry before applying any type of clipper or spray oil as they can interfere with each other causing a buildup in the form of substances leading to rust.
To lubricate, you apply one drop each element or 2-3 sprays per part attached and let run for 10-15 seconds upright.
You should lubricate any trimmers or attachments too as they can get especially hot while being used.
You can learn more about this process by checking out our general lubrication article for both spray lubricant and lubricant drops.

Is the Braun Series 6 a Good shaver?
The Braun Series 6 SensoFlex is a great addition to Braun’s lineup of unique shavers and I strongly recommend it if you’re looking for consistently close, comfortable and fast shaver.
SensoFlex makes contouring a lot easier and is responsible for most of these highlights, along with turbo mode that speeds up the shaving process and only sacrifices minimal amounts of comfort.
The design is great but the color selection is lackluster in quantity, that’s besides the fact they all look good and fit the style though.
Ergonomics is another area where the shaver succeeded with its clear visibility and easy access to the screen and buttons along with good rubber grip.
Features and accessories have a wide variety of combinations for different models and the travel case is very appreciated, but I still would’ve liked a protective cap for some degree of foil protection.
Maintenance is easy, taking no more than a few minutes out of your day with the shaver being waterproof and having EasyClick technology.
I don’t see any huge flaws that would hold me from not recommending the S6 as a solid shaver so if you mostly keep beard growth to medium length and want quality shaves, it’s great.
Braun Series 5 vs 6 – Model & General Comparison
Most of the differences when comparing the Braun Series 5 vs 6 are small, but add up in the end to make for an interesting comparison.
Braun Series 5 Review (Turbo Mode) and Model Comparison
The Braun Series 5 offers good value for the price. It features great ergonomics, closeness, easy maintenance and battery life for an entry level shaver.
